Motor sports, the genesis of sports outings in Lyon under the impetus of WWFE ÉVÉNEMENTIEL and the Club Sport Auto
WWFE ÉVÉNEMENTIEL has joined forces with the French magazine Sport Auto, a reference in motor sports, to offer sports car outings to owners of beautiful sports cars in the Lyon region. The Lyon chapter of the Sport Auto Club, which is still in its infancy, is run by Wilfried and Quentin from WWFE ÉVÉNEMENTIEL, who find the most beautiful roads in the department (and more) to delight car enthusiasts.
At the end of March, we organised the first event of this mechanical adventure. We come back for you through these few lines on this unique event, which started at the Domaine du Talluy.
A first sports car outing under a bright sun and in a good mood
At 10:30 a.m. on 27 March 2022, several cars gathered at the Talluy estate. This meeting in the south of Lyon is an opportunity for the participants to share a brunch while getting to know each other. The place is not an innocent choice: we are ideally located at the gates of the Monts du Lyonnais, a large territory which will be the object of our discovery a few hours later.
The drivers and their co-pilots enjoy the snack, get to know each other and appreciate the atypical setting.
As midday passes, the participants who have properly chased the end now ask to enjoy the main course… This includes the discovery of the road-book specially prepared by WWFE ÉVÉNEMENTIEL for this first sports car outing in Lyon. As the pages turn, the ride in the Monts du Lyonnais takes shape and tests the group’s patience.
After a few photos, the engines warm up quietly. The convertible cars are not afraid of the sunny weather and it’s a “hair in the wind” ride for many participants. Let’s go !
Orliénas, Soucieu-en-Jarrest-Brindas, Vaugneray… The procession peacefully follows the curves in a mechanical humming so dear to the lovers of motor sport. The Malval and Luère passes are now in front of us, and they are one of the highlights of this first sports car trip. The change of scenery is total between these mid-mountain bends and the magnificent, unobstructed view that welcomes us on the edge of the hill.

Our drivers, happy as a clam and spoiled by this perfect weather, improvise themselves as photographers and try to capture the most flattering angle of their cars. After this short break, we get back on the road.
Direction Duerne, then Saint-Martin-en-Haut. The kilometres pass by at the rhythm of a landscape that is spectacular and wild. A short stop in Thurins. We find the road to Soucieu-en-Jarrest, which leads us gently to our starting point in Talluyer.
Debriefing time: Towards the organisation of other car events in Lyon
After this journey rich in pleasure, all the participants make the moment last by sharing a drink at the Talluy which saw us return after 1h45 of escapade. This was an opportunity for everyone to talk about their feelings, their experience and to share their desires for future motoring trips.
It is therefore with great pleasure that WWFE ÉVÉNEMENTIEL will work to organize longer rides, add surprising ideas to the routes (visits, tastings, meetings…), and still propose circuits that do not make the cars take any risks.
In conclusion, this first sports car outing was the founding event of a long series to come. By listening to your desires and giving as much pleasure to the lovers of rides as to the aficionados of circuits, we hope to federate a hard core who will be happy to meet regularly to share good moments and a few laps of the wheel.
